On the pendant with the icon of the Mother of God "Seven Arrows," the Most Holy Theotokos is symbolically depicted pierced by seven arrows. In Her wonderworking icon "Seven Arrows," the Most Holy Theotokos is venerated as the pacifier of hostile feelings and protector against evil intent. People pray before this icon to stop civil strife, to soften the hearts of enemies, and to overcome evil thoughts and unkind feelings in their own hearts. All who turn to this icon in prayer feel that, as the heart is softened, suffering is eased - not only of the soul but of the body as well. And if one prays before this image for one's enemies, hostile feelings give way to mercy, and the hatred that corrodes the soul subsides.
