On the front of the cross are written the initials of Jesus Christ. On the reverse, the first letters of Christ's name form the ancient symbol of the Lord - the Chrism. This is the monogram of Christ in the form of the intersecting letters Chi and Rho, which are written the same way in most languages of Christian peoples. Beside the cross, on the icon pendant, the front bears the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, which, according to tradition, was painted on a board from the dining table of the house of Jesus Christ. It was brought to Rus in the early 12th century and has since been venerated as the chief sacred treasure of our Fatherland. On the reverse is the image of St. Nicholas of Myra, also known as Nicholas the Wonderworker, for his help in all of life's circumstances and spiritual needs. The saint is venerated as a healer of the sick, patron of travelers - especially by sea - a helper in trade and study, and in finding a worthy spouse. On the reverse of the piece are written the opening lines of the protective prayer "Let God Arise."
